A Personal Trainer diploma or degree will prepare you to educate, motivate and train others.

Personal trainers work with clients to help them achieve their health goals and improve their overall wellbeing. Spencerian's personal training program teaches you the exercise planning and safety skills needed to be a personal trainer, along with the business skills needed to start and grow your client base. Personal trainers can coach clients in a group or one-on-one setting while working as a trainer or manager in fitness centers, health clubs, private training studios, universities, hospitals, resorts and clients' homes.

You'll be taught by instructors who are experienced in the field of personal training and passionate about their work. An internship opportunity will give you actual work experience in a potential employment setting. You'll also receive preparation for professional certification exams that will launch your career as a personal trainer.

Our Personal Trainer Diploma program can be completed in 12 months for day division students and emphasizes proficiency in fitness training, lifestyle and health, business development, practice management and nutritional principles. The diploma program prepares you for the American College of Sports Medicine's certification exam required to become a Certified Personal Trainer.

Our Personal Trainer Associate of Applied Science degree program can be completed in 18 months for day division students and furthers proficiency in complex rehabilitation principles; provides a deeper understanding of advanced training techniques; and strengthens your ability to read, apply and perform research in health and human performance. Further coursework will prepare you to attain management positions in fitness facilities or to competently manage employees in your own business. Once you complete the diploma program content, you will be prepared to take the American College of Sports Medicine's Certified Personal Trainer Exam so you can work in the field while you continue your studies in specific training populations and research. You will be able to apply what you are learning on the job.
