The objective of the Medical Assistant Diploma program is to prepare the graduate with the confidence and skills necessary to perform clinically in a physician's office; to handle the administrative duties; to assist in patient care; to perform appropriate medical procedures; and to obtain quality laboratory specimens in a variety of settings.
Medical Assistants are multi-skilled health professionals specifically educated to work in ambulatory settings performing administrative and clinical duties. The practice of medical assisting directly influences the public's health and well-being. It requires mastery of a complex body of knowledge and specialized skills, received through both formal education and practical experience, that serve as standards for entry into the profession.
Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) certification exam and are required to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) as a programmatic/graduation requirement.
