A Medical Assistant diploma allows you to perform both clinical and administrative duties.

As a medical assistant, you can work in a physician's office, primary care facility, clinic or other similar outpatient facilities. Medical assistants' duties are different according to the place of employment, but usually include administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, registering patients, and billing/insurance. Duties also include clinical tasks such as drawing blood, taking vital signs, performing injections and EKGs, and assisting the physician with in-office procedures. Our program can be completed in 12 months for those in our day classes, or in 18 months for students in our evening/online courses.

The Spencerian College Medical Assisting diploma program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB). Graduates of the program are required to take the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) as a programmatic/graduation requirement. This certification is a further indication of your skills and professional abilities.

The Medical Assisting program at Spencerian College has maintained a 100% average in both Graduate and Employer Satisfaction rates over the last 5 years based on the most recent Annual Report Form submitted to the Medical Assisting Review Board (MAERB) and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
