A Limited Medical Radiography diploma will prepare you to perform x-ray exams.
The objective of the Limited Medical Radiography diploma program is to prepare you to perform x-ray (radiographic) examinations. You will be able to prepare patients for radiographic examinations by explaining the procedure and by ensuring proper positioning of both the patient and the radiographic equipment. Upon graduation, you are eligible to apply to take the Kentucky State Limited X-Ray Machine Operator exam through the Radiation Health Branch. Please note that although the two are often confused, the Limited Medical Radiography program is not the Radiologic Technology program. The two programs are distinctly different and offer different career opportunities. You may find employment at clinics, physician's offices and urgent care centers. The program can be completed in 12 months with our day classes.
The program does not require you to take pre-requisite courses before entering the Limited Medical Radiography program. The general education courses are included in the Limited Medical Radiography program's curriculum. The Limited Medical Radiography program accepts students four times a year. Also, our program requires 370 hours of clinical education at various healthcare facilities throughout the Lexington area.
